Removal

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
    Refer to: Jacking and Lifting (100-02 Jacking and Lifting, Description and Operation).
  1. Remove the muffler and tailpipe.
    Refer to: Muffler and Tailpipe (309-00 Exhaust System - 3.5L EcoBoost (272kW/370PS), Removal and Installation).
  1. Loosen the clamps, and slide the clamps back on the muffler.
  1. Detach the isolators, remove the bolts and the muffler.

Installation

  1. Clean all exhaust connections before reassembly.
  1. Install the muffler, the bolts and attach the isolators.
    Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)
  1. Tighten the clamps in the sequence shown.
    Torque: 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)
  1. Install the muffler and tailpipe.
    Refer to: Muffler and Tailpipe (309-00 Exhaust System - 3.5L EcoBoost (272kW/370PS), Removal and Installation).
  1. Check the exhaust system for leaks.
