Removal

NOTICE: Do not use oil or grease-based lubricants on the isolators. These lubricants may cause deterioration of the isolator. This can lead to separation of the isolator from the exhaust hanger bracket during vehicle operation.

  1. Remove the load floor cover.
  1. Position the load floor storage compartment cover up.
  1. Remove the vehicle jack assembly.
  1. Remove the swiel wrench from the tool kit bag, oen the spare tire winch access plug at the bottom of the compartment for the jack and the tools tray.
    1. Insert the swivel wrench through the access hole in the floor to engage the winch.
    1. Turn the handle counterclockwise until the tire lowers to the ground and the cable is slightly slack.
  1. NOTE: Slide the retainer through the centre of the spare tire wheel and remove the spare tire wheel.

    Remove the spare wheel.
  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
    Refer to: Jacking and Lifting (100-02 Jacking and Lifting, Description and Operation).
  1. Remove the bolts and the heat shield.
    Torque: 177 lb.in (20 Nm)
    1. Loosen the muffler and tailpipe clamp.
      Torque: 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)
    1. Loosen the muffler and tailpipe clamp.
      Torque: 41 lb.ft (55 Nm)
    1. Release the locator tab.
  1. Remove the bolts and the muffler and tailpipe assembly.
    Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

Installation

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  1. Clean all exhaust connections before reassembly.
  1. Check the exhaust system for leaks.

    Removal

    With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position the vehicle on a hoist.
    Refer to: Jacking and Lifting (100-02 Jacking and Lifting, Description and Operation).
    Remove the bolts and the transmission shield.
