Power E-Z Entry Seats

When the rear passenger door is open, the E-Z entry seats are activated by the associated seat switch (located in each C-pillar trim panel). When the SCMJ receives an input from the seat switch, it supplies voltage to an actuator which releases a latch, allowing the seat base to pitch up/forward. To return to a seating position, the seat must be manually latched to the floor. There are no serviceable components of the power E-Z entry system within the seat assembly. The actuator is serviced by installing a new seat frame assembly.

Power-Folding Seats

When the seat control switch is activated, the SCMJ activates the second row power fold seat motor which retracts a cable (connected to the same seat latch mechanism as the manual release handle) to release the backrest recliner latches and allows the backrest assist spring to fold the backrest forward onto the seat cushion. Immediately after the seat is fully released, the power fold seat motor returns the release cable and latches to a relaxed state, ready for manual latching. To return to a seating position, the seat must be manually latched to the floor and the backrest must be manually latched upright. There are no serviceable components of the power-folding seat system within the seat assembly. The power fold seat motors are serviced by installing a new seat frame assembly.

Heated/Ventilated Seat Operation

The rear passenger heated/ventilated seat buttons are selected from the RACM (touchscreen) module. The LH rear seat is controlled by the SCME (integral to the DSM . The RH rear seat is controlled by the SCMF (integral to the SCMB

Heat Operation

  • When activated, the SCME / SCMF supplies voltage to the selected seat heater circuit. Each seat cushion heater mat and backrest heater mat is connected in a series circuit to the SCME / SCMF and powered by the output circuit for that seat. The SCME / SCMF monitors inputs from a temperature sensor located in each seat cushion heater mat, and maintains seat temperature by cycling the heater circuits on/off. The heated seat remains ON until the heated seat switch button is pressed to cycle the SCME / SCMF OFF or the ignition is set to OFF.

Ventilation Operation

  • The seat cushion and backrest are each equipped with a blower motor assembly. Each blower motor draws air through the surface of the cushion and backrest through the foam. Once the system is activated, the SCME / SCMF controls the blower speed dependant on the heated/ventilated seat settings.

Multi-Contour Seat Operation

NOTE: The engine must be running or the vehicle must be in accessory mode to activate the rear multi-contour seats.

NOTE: The multi-contour seat massage mode is disabled when the child safety lock is active. For additional information on how to enable/disable the child safety locks, refer to the Owner's Literature.

The multi-contour seats are independently controlled by the seat control switches (located on the RACM (touchscreen). The LH and RH rear seats each contain a total of 7 inflatable bladders: 4 cushion bladders and 3 backrest lumbar bladders. The pressures for the lumbar and cushion bladders are displayed on the RACM as a percentage of the maximum pressure.

There are 2 modes of operation: adjust or massage. Adjust mode allows pressure changes in one of the 3 lumbar bladders to be inflated or deflated to a desirable feel. Massage mode provides a sequence of inflation and deflation of the lumbar and cushion bladders to simulate a massage motion.

NOTE: Refer to the Owner's Literature for information how to select the various modes using the touchscreen buttons.

When in Adjust mode:

  • Each tap of the up or down buttons cycles through the following bladders: Upper lumbar, middle lumbar and lower lumbar.
  • When the inflate/deflate buttons are pressed (or held), the pressure increases or decreases for the currently selected bladder.
  • Pressing the mode select button toggles the seat to massage mode. The ignition must be on for massage mode to function.

When in Massage mode:

  • Each tap of the up or down buttons cycles between backrest and cushion massage modes.
  • Each tap of the inflate/deflate buttons cycles between the intensity levels of massage (off, low and high).
  • Pressing the mode select button toggles the seat to adjust mode. Middle lumbar bladder will be selected automatically.

Component Description

Power E-Z Entry Seat Control Switch

The power E-Z fold seat switches are momentary contact switches that, when pressed, supply an input to the SCMJ which then activates the associated second row E-Z entry power release seat actuator motors to release the seat assembly and allow it to pitch up/forward.

Power-Fold Seat Control Switch

The power-fold seat switch is a momentary contact switch that, when pressed, supplies an input to the SCMJ which then activates the associated second row power release seat actuator motors to release the backrest and allows it to fold forward.

Seat Heater Mat
