Lincoln Navigator 2018-2025 Workshop Manual / Body and Paint / Third Row Seats / Third Row Seats - Overview. Description and Operation

Overview

Power Headrest Fold

The power headrest fold control switch is located in the overhead console. When the switch is activated, the LH and RH headrests fold forward to allow clear vision for the driver and/or to allow the seat to be folded foward to the stowed position. The folding headrests must be manually returned to the upright position. The power headrest fold system consists of the following components:

  • Power headrest fold control switch (part of the overhead console)
  • LH and RH headrest actuators (located in the seat backrest assembly)
  • SCMJ

Power Recline Seats

When the rear seat power recline switch (located in each rear quarter trim panel under the C-pillar) is activated, the power folding seat motors move the seat backrest rearward or forward. The power recline seat system consists of the following components:

  • LH and RH rear seat power recline switches
  • Third row seat lift/fold motors (two motors per seat, serviced as an assembly)
  • SCMJ

Power Fold Seats

The third row power fold seat features a one-touch operation that can adjust the LH and RH seats independently or combined into a stowed position with a single activation of the seat control switch. The third row power fold seat also includes obstacle detection that allows the seat to stop and reverse direction if it hits an obstacle, allowing the obstacle to be removed.

The seat control switch is located behind the third row seat on the LH quarter trim panel. The third row power fold seat only operates when the vehicle is in park and the liftgate is open. The folding head restraints must be manually returned to the upright position. Power to the seat times out after 10 minutes, but can be enabled by opening any door, turning the ignition on, pressing any keyless entry keypad button or the unlock button on the key fob. The power fold seat system consists of the following components:

  • Rear seat power fold switches
  • Third row seat lift/fold motors (two motors per seat, serviced as an assembly)
  • SCMJ
