Lincoln Navigator: Automatic Transmission External Controls / Emergency Park Position Release. General Procedures
Activation
NOTICE:
This procedure should only be used to temporarily place the
transmission in Neutral during certain service procedures when the
engine cannot crank. Do not tow the vehicle on road in this mode.
Failure to follow this instruction will result in transmission damage.
NOTE:
The following steps should be used when the engine will not crank.

Apply the parking brake.

Remove the park override lever bolt.

Move the park override lever to the park override position.
-
Install the park override lever bolt.
Torque:
177 lb.in (20 Nm)
NOTE:
When the repair is complete, the park ovrride lever must be returned to the normal operating position.

Remove and discard the park override lever bolt.
-
Move the park override lever to the normal operating position.
-
Install a NEW park override lever bolt (7P219).
Torque:
177 lb.in (20 Nm)

Remove the front seat backrest adjuster.
